Peg Savage has contractually agreed to move to Key West, Florida. The smudged signatures on the damp cocktail napkin are irrefutable proof.
“An adventure…” her husband Clark says.
Peg can’t swim; she’s afraid of bridges (there are 42 of them); and she doesn’t want to leave her friends. However, after a bottle of Cabernet, a move from Chicago to the southernmost city in the United States seems like the best decision ever.
But now Clark has taken a long term job in Cuba and she’s on her own.
Neither her dog Nipper, nor the ghosts in the attic, offer up any good advice. But how hard can it be living in paradise?
Peg dives into island life but the more effort she makes, the wider her wake of catastrophes. She is tortured by a paddle board, a giant poisonous toad, the local Conservation group, and the patron saint of hurricanes. Not to mention the persistent sweat rash under her left breast.
A tropical depression descends on the island – one that can’t be cured with medication. Peg must gather her strength if she has any hope of surviving the storm.

Funny, Quick, Perfect for beach/pool side read!
March 8, 2018

i L O V E D this book.
i loved Peg.
i loved her dilemmas and all her troubles and all her wins. you can't help but love Peg for handling everything that is given to her in the best possible way that she can.
I am here for her and all her (mis)adventures. im here for all the hot mess madness that she gets herself in.
everything that can happen and even things that you have no idea that could, happen to Peg but i love her because of the way she handles herself. she's true to herself, her dilemma and the way she resolves it.
basically what I am trying to tell you is that I am team Peg the whole entire way!
TEAM PEG THROUGH AND THROUGH!!!!

if you want a funny, quick, perfect for the beach or pool side read, this is your book, Peg is your gal and all her adventures are a roar.
im so glad that i was able to get a copy of this because otherwise i would have missed out and now that I've had a chance to walk along with Peg, I hope there are many more!

And it would be perfect if books in this new category would be distinguished ...

There should be a separate literary genre tag category such as “new vista” to help readers find books which emphasize seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. And it would be perfect if books in this new category would be distinguished by being easy and fun to read.

Island Life Sentence would then be tagged perfectly. Peg seems like an every person, and then develops into a character all her own. She sees things in ways that would never occur to me.
This is a breezy and funny read, yet a little deeper than it may seem at first. I enjoyed it so much, I will go back and look to the author’s first book.

Laugh-out-loud Tropical Adventure
March 6, 2018

Island Life Sentence is an un-put-downable escape into the hilarious new (accidental) tropical world of Peg Savage (some call it paradise—Peg does not). Peg reluctantly leaves her comfortable Chicago life, the seasons, and best friend, Trudy, to indulge her husband Clark’s pining for “an adventure” in Key West. No sooner have they made the move than Clark has bee lined for a different adventure 90 miles south in Cuba leaving Peg to navigate the southernmost city all alone. Each chapter illuminates the realization of yet another one of Peg’s long listed fears amid laugh-out-loud antics (what woman out there hasn’t wrestled with her first bathing-suit-try-on of the season?). Peg is an authentic and likeable heroine and her loyalty to Clark is superseded only by her voice-of-reason, cyclone of a friend, Trudy. While some readers may shake their heads at the kooky Key Wester’s life described in flamboyant detail, others who have witnessed this lifestyle know that paddleboard yoga, lobster mini-season, and Fantasy Fest are all-too real. Despite the slapstick humor, Peg’s story is one of facing fears, finding strength and developing self. Treat yourself and read Island Life Sentence and you’ll not soon forget Peg Savage.

Made Me Laugh Out Loud!
March 6, 2018

Peg and Trudy are Key's West's Lucy and Ethel-- fun, female, and like Key West T-shirts, made me laugh out loud with their pithy naughtiness. I loved how they were there for each other as they follow their own journeys to be happy, both with and without calypso music and a skinny margarita in hand. Is it a spoiler to say I loved the ending? This is a fabulous beach read. Read it on a beach, or read it in your chilly home to help you pretend you would LIKE to be in hot and crazy Key West laying on the beach!

I literally laughed out loud! I was born & raised in Chicago and I now work and live in Key West so I can relate to absolutely everything in that book. It was very well written and very easy to read. I highly recommend this book
